Survey Point

A typical monument for control points in this area: A iron pipe with a white plastic cap. The cap reads "Vermessungspunkt" (survey point). The cap is set flush with the pavement of the sidewalk, so the pipe is not visible. They are normally used in unpaved areas and then buried completely. (In pavement often bolts or nails are set as monuments for survey points or boundary corners.)This one is probably a reference point for the triangulation point I showed here before, as it is only a few meters away. The same monuments are sometimes used to mark boundary corners, then the inscription reads "Grenzspunkt" (boundary point). There are also older ones without inscription, only with an + and die letters x and y on top, symbolizing a coordinate system; they were used for both, boundary and survey points.
