200th Surveying Anniversary Celebration of Pittsfield Township

October 18th, 2015 marked the 200th Anniversary of the Michigan survey of 1815 that established the Pittsfield Township boundaries. The day was celebrated with a presentation by local historian C.E. Wall, Retired Surveyor Jack N. Owens, PS, and Retired Surveyor Gil Bonno, PS. The day included education about surveying, a brief history of the surveying of Pittsfield township, and stories about the life of a surveyor 200 years ago. The celebration concluded with a live carving of a witness tree in Prairie Park to commemorate the 200th Anniversary.
