The best and most renown surveying experience I've had is cadastral surveying in the pacific northwest. Determining the best and most efficient way to breakdown large parcels of land covering a section or more, was by far the most enjoyable surveying I've done. Locating several original stone monuments in this expedition after following the lead of 100 plus year old field notes has a level of gratification unmatched in my experience to any construction staking; although, I must say that precision monitoring of high rise rennovations in Seattle, (ensuring the zero building setback doesn't encroach into the right-of-way) is rewarding too.
