Your Bio: Please tell other members why you are here:
I have been an active surveyor and trainer since 1979. My first exposure to the surveying profession was in 1967 when I got a part-time vacation time employment with the photogrammetry and map-production unit of the Tanzania Surveys and Mapping Division at Gerezani Sea Front in Dar Es Salaam. That exposure led to my decision to enroll for the Advanced Diploma in Land Surveying in 1972 at a newly established Institute called Ardhi Institute in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania. As a student I participated effectively in realistic field work in Engineering Survey (Survey of the Dar Es Salaam Port Access- Highway), Cadastral Surveying (Plot Surveys in Dar Es Salaam and Mbulu Township) and Control Surveys. The one year exposure at Ardhi Institute culminated in my desire to pursue a combined BSc/Masters Degree in Geodesy and Photogrammetry at the Technical University of Budapest in 1973 where I graduated with a Masters of Science Civil Eng (Geodesy & Photogrammetry). Since graduating from the Technical University of Budapest in 1979 I have worked as a professional Surveyor and Trainer in Academic Institutions and practiced the profession via a private company that I established. I have also advanced myself professionally and academically by subscribing to professional associations in Tanzania and obtaining two additional Degrees - An M.Sc. Eng(Geomatics) from the University of Newbrunswick Fredericton Canada and a PhD(Geomatics) from the same University. I am fellow of the Institute of Surveyors of Tanzania (IST), a Fully Registered Professional Surveyor(NCPS) , and I am licensed to practice the Surveying Profession in Tanzania. On the academic side I have been involved in teaching theory and practice(Photogrammetry, Remote Sensing, Engineering Surveys, Digital Mapping, Field Astronomy) at: Ardhi Institute (1979 -- 1995), University of New Brunswick Faculty of Natural Resources (lecturer 1992/1993) and Department of Geodesy and Geomatics at UNB (teaching assistant 1992--1995), University of Dar Es Salaam (UCLAS 1996-2006), Ardhi University (2006--2009) and University of Bagamoyo (College of Science, Informatics and Built Environment 2011-2020). I am here therefore to bear witness to efforts to develop capacity of Land Surveying / Geomatics and Geospatial Information Technology in Africa. I call upon visitors to my short profile to fully contribute to the development of our fairly broad professional and scientific field! You can only do that when you are alive and healthy! Please protect your selves against COVID19 by avoiding conspiracy theories. I at age 72 and my Champion brother (Rtd. librarian) at 76 we have decided to survive by taking the COVID19 inoculation when it became available in in Tanzania in May 2021. -- Use your brains and stop letting others control your decision making processes by means of disinformation. That way we can fully benefit from your existence! God Bless You all. ([email protected])
