Where are you surveying?

Land Surveyor

Hello everyone, I am new here.

Hello, my name is Edgar and I am from Spain. Always was my dream to go overseas to learn a new language and also learn and improve my skills as a Land Surveyor. That dream came true when this year the Australian Government granted me with a Visa which allows me to work full time.

I have been here for a month and a half, and after looking for a job in many surveying companies it seems I have an offer :)

If nothing goes wrong I will have a trial, the company wants to know if I can carry out their jobs. I think I am capable to do surveys and stake out. I have already done several times those kind of jobs. I will be an assistant but I will have to work on my own.

Now I am reading about the reference ellipsoid and you use GDA94, right? In 2020 it seems will implement a new one.Ā

One thing I would like to know is what process you use in a basic survey work. GDA94 + UTM?Ā

And, to manage and edit the data, create new points, etc. I see you use almost all the time 12d Model software? Does it take a long time to know 12d? I always worked with a Spanish software running with AutoCAD environment. At first I do not need to know how to manage the data but I want to learn as many things as possible.

Thank you for your time and I hope to learn a lot with all of you and with Australian people :)
