Iām new here but thought that forums such as this would be the ideal to get a bit of advice...
Iām a land surveying professional that has recently moved into a slightly different arena. My new firm specialises in the supply of survey books, level books, mining transit books, waterproof notebooks and the like to the land surveying industry. Whilst Iāll obviously be selling books from all the major players, Iām in the process of working with a firm to design my own unique range of survey/level books.
And itās with this that I could do with your advice! For all the land surveying pros at there... if you were to be able to choose, what useful formulae or surveying hints/tips, perhaps some conversion tables etc would you like to see on the first few pages of a survey/level book?
Iām thinking about the kind of things that a land surveyor, out in the field, would find really useful? Any ideas? In the end itās people like you who Iām designing these things for so your advice would be incredibly useful.

Off the top of my head, I think of the next generation field book as aligning itself to the mobile revolution. Ā I think there should be a page in the back with helpful links for surveyors which can be accessed from any mobile device. Ā When I say helpful links, i mean links to state boards, local surveying support groups such as those found on our network, perhaps even a series of QR codes that can be scanned with phone, leading to maps like the one we have on this network which allow surveyors to connect with other surveyors using similar equipment and such. Ā Also very important would be links to jobs boards for situations when a surveyor runs into a friend who is out of work..they could simply give them the link to a job board for their state and hopefully help them find work.
