Barrick (Granny Smith) Pty Ltd is located 950kms north east of Perth and 23kms south of Laverton and has been one of Australia’s leading gold producers for the last 15 years. With continued growth in our underground mining operations and an exciting exploration portfolio, the projected mine life is 8 years based on the current reserves.
Position Overview:
Granny Smith Gold Mine is seeking to recruit an experienced Underground Shift Supervisor. All applicants must be in possession of a current West Australian Underground Shift Supervisors Certificate.
The successful applicants will report to the Underground Foreman and will have the following responsibilities:
The principal duties include:
Monitor the workforce while carrying out their tasks to ensure compliance with all Company Policies and Procedures
Communication of safety issues and strategies to the crew and encourage a pro-active and interactive approach to Safety & Health issues
Ensure incidents are reported as required under the Mines Safety & Inspection Act (MSIA).
Delegate assigned tasks and give satisfactory instructions and adequate resources to workforce so they can complete the assigned task in a safe and efficient manner
Liaison with Engineers, Geologists, Surveyors and other departments so that performance targets are met
The successful applicants must have the following qualifications:
Several years experience as an UG Shift Supervisor in underground hard rock decline operations
Experience in various stoping techniques and remote bogging operations
Demonstrate a good level of mining skills and proficient use of machinery
Competency in safe working practices
Good leadership skills in providing motivation and setting organisational goals
Good time management skills
Good written and oral communication skills
Computer Literate

The operation is fly in/fly out from Perth on an 8/6, 7/7 roster. Excellent on-site accommodation is provided. Recreational facilities include internet café, Foxtel, swimming pool, tennis and squash courts and gymnasium. Telstra “Next G” Mobile phone access available on site.
