Where are you surveying?

I want to buy a Trimble R4 or R8 with TSC controller.

I presently have an ashtech Z12 and Zsurveyor system with a Carlson Explorer and Survce controller

I intend using NTRIP most of the time, but will have to use a base when out of cellphone range or too far from the base station

Ā

I want to use one of the Ashtech units as a base and the Trimble as rover but am having the following problems

Ā Ā Ā  1.Ā Ā  The Zsurveyor doesnt have the "B" option so it cannot transmit RTCM, it does however transmit CMR format which the trimble is supposed to recognise but doesnt. The trimble does receive the radio signal from the ZSurveyor but does not accept the data stream

Ā

Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā  2. The Z12 shows RTCM Off. Going into screen 4 and pressing differential does nothing, so you cannot get into the the screen to adjust the output from what it presently sends out. How can I get into this screen to change output to RTCM. In the present settings the Trimble doesnt even accept receipt of the radio signal

I contacted Ashtech on how to change things but the reply I got from France was to contact the local agents, and the local agents gave no answer other than to say I should buy a newer system, so not much help

Te Trimble agents are trying their best to solve the communication issue butwe are not having much success with Ashtech

Any help with this problem would be greatly appreciated

Regards

Peter Kuhn
