ROB ROSA replied to Carl Strydom's discussion GPS Wobbly Breaklines - has anybody encountered this?
"Not knowing what the site looks like, but having this happen to myself with GPS, I'd check to see what was overhead or near the shots. Check the residuals on each shot and see if they were within tolerance. It looks like it's the 10% rule…"

"Different strokes for different folks. I am not an employee for starters & I don't try to tell others how to run their business. What works for me may not work for you. I am trying to be semi-retired & mostly do boundary work solving…"

Lee Bodenheimer replied to ROB ROSA's discussion One Man Surveying
"I still stand by my first post.  Running s 1 man crew is stupid and my firm will never do it for the 2 reasons 1 it is unsafe. And 2. It doesn’t train new surveyors.   By the way.   We turn down more work than we do.  And…"

ROB ROSA replied to Peter Hunt's discussion Trimble TSC3 Compatibility
"If it's available in the equipment list then yes. Depends on what version of the field software is on it. Typically it's Survey Pro or whatever Trimble calls's usually identical to the TDS Survey Pro."

ROB ROSA replied to Muhammad Junaid's discussion How to get Profile Elevations from Negative Alignment Stations.
"You should not have to change the stationing. If you require negative stationing, and sometimes you do, you should be able to set the alignment with the starting station as the negative and go from there. Other than that, you can calc it and then…"

ROB ROSA replied to Robert W Kolacny's discussion Carlson SurvCE user trying to use Topcon Magnet Field
"I would return the receivers. I'm die hard SurvCE. I'd go with Leica receivers if I had to...and that's saying a lot....'cuz I can not stand Leica hardware or software."

ROB ROSA replied to Johan Paquay's discussion Geomax zoom 90 robotic total station
"Geomax is an offshoot of Leica. You will have to update all your prisms unless you adjust the prism constants in the gun and possibly the data collector. Try to stay with a gun that is 0 or -30. Less investment if you do the prism adjustments."

I have GPS and Robotic Total Station. I had to work by myself for 9 months looking for good help. The only time a 1 man crew is more productive is a big GPS topo. Anything else is way easier and more productive with good help. After we do the field work my helper can do the CAD drafting while I keep up with administrative chores. We are even making more $ now.
