We have survey procedures in place that keep all of our staked corners within the ALTA/NSPS minimum standards most of the time. Where I'm finding issue is when staking out corners that are very close together, like within 30 ft. The crew is using an on-site base station and RTK to set the corners and measuring positions with double occupation after staking, but we are "just" missing the allowable tolerance report by a few hundredths of a foot. The crews pull a tape between the points after staking if they are that close together and the measured distance always checks out well. So we have a check in taping that we note for the adjacent points that fail the 0.07' + 50 ppm test if that happens.

Here is my question. Is there a way to record the measured distance between the points in Trimble Access so that the measured distance observations are available for use in network adjustments? It would be almost no work in the field if this observation type could be added. If we were using Star Net, we can just add 1 line to the input file from the field notes.

Does anyone know if TBC even has an observation class for measured distances? I hate to ask the crew to setup a robot just to get the observations to check the report box in these corner condition cases. I know you can create linework from taped distances in access, but I don't think that data is included as observations in the least squares adjustment.

Thanks in advance!

GPS Configurator Trimble 5800 R8https://landsurveyorsunited.com/hubs/trimblesupportgroup/forum/gps-configurator-trimble-5800-r8-12019-06-27T11:38:59.000Z2019-06-27T11:38:59.000ZMario Alberto Pizahttps://landsurveyorsunited.com/surveyors/MarioAlbertoPiza

Hello

This screen from GPS Configurator Trimble 5800, show neither "Log data" nor " Base", and memory left 0kb, I don't know why, What have I to do?, Please help

Upgrade Trimble GPS 5800 R8https://landsurveyorsunited.com/hubs/trimblesupportgroup/forum/upgrade-trimble-gps-5800-r82019-04-19T01:23:37.000Z2019-04-19T01:23:37.000ZMario Alberto Pizahttps://landsurveyorsunited.com/surveyors/MarioAlbertoPiza

I am attempting to update an R8 receiver for the upcoming GPS week rollover. I have experience running an s3 total station, an s6, and various leicas like 403, 1103, Ts06, but I recently purchased this older gun the 5603 robotic. It came with no literature and there isn't a lot on the net. I have not used cables like this before. My internal gun battery is no good, so I have an external. I want to hook up my tsc3 to the gun and bypass the acu. I didn't have the needed cables to make with work until a few days ago, see the pics below for what I have now. My question is, since I have an external battery, the controller and batter must enter the gun at the same point shown in the second picture. My question before I fry my gun is, so I have the connections listed correctly in that picture for that 3 way adapter. Tsc3 and batter plug in on one end, then the other end of the adapter which is a 9 pin, has a cord connecting to it, then that connection plugs into the gun as pictured? I have not seen this arrangement before. Do you guys have any other tips I should know about when I try to hook this up? Thanks so much.
