Community Members,

The future of the surveying profession depends on us.  It is up to us to inspire a new flock of land surveyors in order to mitigate the current Age Gap and Knowledge Gap in land surveying.  A lot of time and effort has gone into helping unify surveyors for International Surveyors Week in order to hopefully generate a critical mass of activity from the community to inspire a new generation of surveyors.

A Community Experiment in Public Awareness

We are asking all members to mark 2 special days on your calendars for International Surveyors Week 2018 in June (17th-24th).   First, the day dedicated to your location and Second, Survey Earth in a Day June 21st.

List of Days of the Week Dedicated to Surveyor Locations Around the Planet:

SUN.17TH-AFRICA DAY

MON.18TH -N.AMERICA DAY

TUES.19TH- ASIA DAY

WED.20TH EUROPEAN DAY

THURS.21ST- SURVEY EARTH IN A DAY 7

FRI.22ND- CENTRAL & S. AMERICA GEO DAY

SAT.23RD -MIDDLE EAST GEO DAY

SUN.24TH - OCEANIA SURVEYORS DAY

On the day for your location, we are attempting to create a surge of excitement from surveyors in your region in order to use the content to excite new surveyors around the world.  So on your location day, please introduce yourself inside the forum for your local group.  Tell us about your experience in surveying and why you became a land surveyor.  Share photos and videos of your experiences.

On Survey Earth in a Day, find a nearby benchmark with known coordinates and setup your GNSS equipment.  From here you can submit your point to the community and or take a photo or video of your setup and submit to the community describing the setup, what equipment you used and your location.

We hope to also see your use of twitter, instagram and facebook to promote your stories and shared content.  The more your content is shared, the more valuable it will be for gaining the attention of a younger generation of future surveyors.

Below are both websites for #ISW18 and #SEIAD7  side by side for your convenience.  Please tell us how you plan to use International Surveyors Week to inspire new surveyors!
