As we all know, our profession is one of the oldest on planet earth, probably the oldest in the entire universe. Surveying is advancing in all areas of human life, we are virtually everywhere now and almost every other profession needs us in one way of the other.

The mining industry is one of the sectors that requires the technical skills of a surveyor. For example, we are needed in locating the ore during exploration, mapping the mine, modeling the ore-body, volume computations and even sometime in pit design. Yet in Ghana, some of the mining companies don’t really value the services of the surveyor!

Your views and comments as to why this happens and the possible solutions are welcome.
