Land Surveyor

I have a DL103 level that only sees sporadic use, several times a year. Lately the compensator has been sticking in an out of level spot. Wrapping on the legs will free it up, but it caused some bad readings on a job. I am wondering if anyone else has dealt with this. Do I have to send it to Topcon, or can I open it up and clean/oil the compensator?  TIA

  • Hi Ronnie,

The level may just be dirty and need cleaning. But to be on the safe side, even if you do not send it back to Topcon ,do you not have a local  Tech who could give it a going over clean the whole level and peg it.

Then your peg would be on record and you could peg it your self, as check between the time you have a tech check it.Construction sites can cause dirt to get in or long periods without cleaning or moisture can cause this problem or rough handling which may not be your case. But it is best to get someone to make sure everything is in working order to insure your level and work is correct.

Nothing is better than a good working level.

    Best Regards

    Billy
