TSC3 Freeze up

I was working on a topo the other day with our TSC3 and a Trimble S6 Robot. My data collector froze up while I was taking a picture to add to a previous topo shot taken. I had to reboot it to get it to work again....no big deal except having to reset the date/time and station setup again....About 2 hours later, it did it again, but this time while I was taking a shot.  Anyone else have this problem and or a solution? Thanks for any ideas.See More

Doug Tarrant replied to Robert Cory Boisclaire's discussion TSC3 Freeze up
"Mine has been freezing for ages. Furthermore when connected to the computer it is more often than not an unrecognised device. Only a hard reboot fixes it. Then yesterday it thumbed its nose at the S8 and just would not connect. What would be handy…"

"The TCS3 is very slow to process photos. You can adjust the quality/size of the photos you are taking to speed up the process. I don't think that your controller froze, it can take several minutes for a single image if the photo resolution is…"

"I found this problem used to be a memory issue. I cleared all photos off every night. This seemed to alleviate the issue."

Profile Information

I am here because I am a.
Surveyor
Surveyor Bio:
I learned how to survey in 1996 with a small company in Denver, CO. By small, I mean the owner and myself. He was 76 years old, but I soon learned he knew everything there was to know about surveying. I learned "old school" surveying. Even though he could have easily afforded a new gun, he still made me use the huge, orange with a in-line "translator" HP Total Station. It had a screw that would run out of room on it when turning an angle.
Long story short, all the things he repeatedly pounded into my head and yelled at me for when I did wrong were only to pass the torch down the next generation.

Today, we are in a technical typhoon. It is a double edged sword to me-we can do so much with GPS and Drones now, but at the cost of losing an art and the skills that were necessary to make it 80 chains.
Most people don't realize what a prestigious position "SURVEYOR" MEANT. Or that our first 3 US Presidents were Surveyors.
I love the history and enjoy browsing up old maps from the late 1800's to see the detail and hard work that went into them. No "undo" button or delete....It was "start over".
