Profile Information

I am here because I am a.
Professional Land Surveyor
Surveyor Bio:
I have been working in the industry for about 6 years, with most of that time behind an instrument.
I am registered as an Associate with the Surveyors Board of Queensland, Australia.

I currently work for a small firm on the Sunshine Coast of QLD, Australia. My work ranges from Cadastral to setout, and ASCON pickups. I am working harder each day on expanding my knowledge in the industry. I use a robotic instrument and RTK almost daily and I process and draft all of my own data.

When I first made the career change, I worked as a chainman for about 6 months under a surveyor who was not shy to share information and I was lucky to learn a lot in that short amount of time.
I then went on to a cadet position with local government where I used both a total station and a new GPS RTK unit. In this position,I got to do a lot of setout work and a lot of DTM work. I have just moved into post processing of GPS data and I am thoroughly enjoying my studies, although I wish I were a more diligent student. Sometimes work just gets in the way of the study/work/life balance.
My long term goals are to finish my degree and become a registered cadastral surveyor in Australia, then, potentially into Asia or north America/Canada.
I am interested in learning from a range of people across the globe, casting a wider net over my learning channels. I am very keen to expand my network of colleagues across the globe.
