RTK and POST-PROCESSING GNSS for free

I would like to start that discussion about the Open Source software RTK-LIB that allows anyone to post-process GNSS observations (RINEX) for free and also to perform RTK (RTCM).It seems UAV…Read more →

"That is correct.  It is post processed data.    You need to log the ReachRs for at least 20 minutes.  If you get it out and start logging as soon as you get the job site to fly, then it can be logging while you are flying and…"

"Thanks for the fast reply Tim. So is it post processed base data so you have corrected map co-ordinates? Or it just converts the LLH to a local co-ordinate file? Cheers."

Tim Durham replied to Joel van Cranenbroeck's discussion RTK and POST-PROCESSING GNSS for free
"Paul,  The EZsurv is GREAT.  It now takes me about 2 minutes to process my Emlid Reach RS surveys and then export the CSV file for Pix4D.  I highly recommend EZsurv.  They now have a utility that converts the ReachRS survey file…"

"Tim, I have also got a set of Reach receivers to use in a base/rover setup for GCP's for my little drone company. PSA - I am a surveyor for more than 30 years and understand the pain of getting post processing right. The problem I have is…"

THE DEAD END OF THE TRAVERSE METHOD

One of the typical survey method for determining station's points and survey details has been the traverse method. There have been considerable discussions on the way to "adjust" angles and distances and lot of rules of thumb while rigorous Least Squares Adjustment softwares are available anywhere.I would say "too much" talks and controversial exchanges for a method that is simply not appropriated anymore considering modern instruments. Long traverses (geodetic) have been anyway replaced by…See More

"Dear Christian, I wrote several software for handling Leica Total Station so if needed do not hesitate to contact me while GeoMoS will do the job but it's rather expensive and probably not as appropriated for your applications ?"

TRIMBLE PATHFINDER IN MY DAUGHTER HANDS

FROM BASE STATION TO GNSS NETWORK ... HOW DEPENDING ARE YOU ON POSITIONING INFRASTRUCTURES ?

Posted on February 2, 2018 at 11:52am 0 Comments

Most of the GNSS Network RTK projects have been developed by the economical justification that an active geodetic network would reduce the cost of maintaining a traditional geodetic network where the maintenance of the benchmarks and the control survey were a significant part of the ownerís budget.…

UNCERTAINTY ON SURFACE/VOLUME CALCULATIONS

Posted on January 29, 2018 at 9:38am 2 Comments

When I started my career, I have been attracted by one (of many) question : how accurate is the surface/volume calculations knowing the uncertainties of the points that define these geometrical figures. I really wanted to know in term of standard deviation what would be the "end results".

The solution was to propagate the variances (standard deviation squared) into the functional model (the…

Good news for all of you who are using a GNSS RTK without the fancy tilt meter and IMU onboard !

You can turn your today GNSS receiver to do the "free bubble style" by mixing up 2 technologies that popped up last year.

The first one is about software receiver as we learnt we can feed the digital signal…
