Hey guysMy name is Ireeta Albert. I'm a surveyor by qualification and 3 years post graduate practice. I've been doing a lot of engineering surveying since I was on a road project. I however did some cadastral surveys and a lot of topos. I intend to enroll for a masters this year but I'm torn between Urban planning and design Vs Geo-information science. I still want to practice but at a more senior position. Any advice on the pros and cons of each would help me a lot in my decision.See More

Hi Ireeta,

It sounds like you're enjoying your survey & spatial career.

I'm unsure of the situation over in your part of the world, but I would advise that as you gain more experience and qualifications, the natural progression for a professional Surveyor is to move into those more senior roles.

As for Planning and Design- well I believe that with Survey you'll enjoy a much better variety of projects/work and probably find yourself taking in a little of those other disciplines at some stage also.

Regards,

Mathew
