Leica 1201 data management

Hi Friends,Iam using Leica 1201 total station. The problem is whenever I setup the instrument, the station and backsight points are getting stored in the datas. That is when i open the datas there are multiple number of same points. Can any one help me to solve this issue?

  • Make sure that you make the point ID the station ID, that way, it will average the coordinates, no mater how many times you take the point. If you make the station ID the feature code, it will record the point multiple times with different point numbers, which is why you could end up with a large number or points called for example, STN1.

    Hopefully that makes some sense!

  • If you setting up on know point and back-sighting known point you will need to have your known points in DATA of your JOB. From my limited knowledge of Leica 1200 field software, it operates with something called triplets, which is kind of way to store different kind information. So, for example if you measures the BS it will store it as a triplet. If you measure your BS from different setup point, it will store different triplet under the same point number.

I don't know how well it answers the question...let us know Siva.
    • Thank you very much Evgeny for your response.
Still I want to know whether there is any settings to separate or hide these triplets from other datas.
      Once again thanking you.
      • There might be, I think they would be called filters in the TPS, but be careful with it...I personally like triplets, because I put my data through LGO and then through STAR*NET, but only for complicated cases that need comprehensive L.S. adjustment.

        Take look at filters anyway...
