I am updating the Import Points File routine in FreeCOGO and I have some questions related to coding.
How do you code your points when using a data collector?
Do you use an alpha or numeric description?
Do you include string codes with the description or use a separate field?

Point Number, X, Y, Z, Description(PointName)
Two points example:
01,125.455,12.343,720.202,SMARK22
02,124.120,13.110,721.205,AL1
One line per point, each point has a unique name, in the list only coordinates may be repeated.
This is how I coded my own programs and job lists (HP48), hope it helps.
So you don't use string codes?
Please correct me if I'm off track here. I use the same system as Anuar but I use trimble so I set up my code lists so the system knows what is a point and a string the to records multiple embankments I apply a numerical suffix and trimble reads this to break the string to cut down on processing time in the office.
